Groom's Cake or No Groom's Cake?

Groom's Cake or No Groom's Cake?

I have been to a lot of weddings, and most of them did not have groom's cakes. The ones that did, however, made the reception all the more fun. Guests love coming into the reception and getting a glimpse of the groom's cake... buy why?

Traditionally, this cake is a present from the bride to the groom. She chooses one of his favorite hobbies, like video games (hence the Mario Bros Cake pictured here), sports, fishing, etc. The cake is a representation of something he loves. But what is the point of having a groom's cake?

The original purpose of the groom's cake was not to be just a second cake option for guests who might not like the flavor of the wedding cake. The groom's cake had a special purpose: the cake would be sliced up and sent home as a wedding favor. That night, single women would place the cake under their pillow, which would cause them to dream of their future husband!

So will you choose to have a groom's cake at your wedding? If so, what will the theme be? Let us know on Facebook!
