Last minute Memorial Day fun

Still need plans to kick off the summer? We've gathered up a few fab ideas.

Yay! You made it. Memorial Day weekend has arrived and with it, the unofficial kickoff to the summer season.

If wedding planning is keeping you from jetting down to the Isle of Palms for the weekend, that doesn't mean you have to miss out on Memorial Day fun. Put the planner aside for the weekend and spend some much needed quality time with your fiance and friends. (He'll thank you, trust us!).

Looking for something to do? Check out these happenings around the QC:

Catch a concert. Brandi Carlile and Dave Matthews Band are both in town Friday night, and it's not too late to snag some tickets.

Unwind at Speed Street. Back for the 22nd year, Speed Street brings popular country music acts (hello, Chris Young) and NASCAR drivers together Uptown for one big party.

Grab a funnel cake at Mint Hill Madness. Escape the craziness of the city and head out to Mint Hill for the town's annual Memorial Day festival, complete with food trucks, live music and carnival rides.

Have a glass at Raffaldini. Just an hour outside of Charlotte, head to Raffaldini Vineyards on Monday to enjoy some wine, food, music and a gelato cart.

Run a 5K. Trying to get in wedding shape? Lace up your tennis shoes for the Patriot Festival 5K in SouthPark while honoring those who served our country.

The Southern Bride’s Guide to Everything Wedding

You've got the groom. You've got the ring. Now all you need is some direction. Bride+Groom is the bride's guide to planning the wedding of her dreams. From this season's stunning gowns and accessories to honeymoons, decor, and more, Bride+Groom brings brides (and their grooms) the most up-to-date information on everything bridal in Charlotte.

About Hannah

There are few things Hannah loves more than Southern charm, classic Ray Ban aviators, a string of pearls, and Sunday afternoons. An admirer of all things lovely and especially the written word, she put her English degree to good use after graduating from UNC Chapel Hill and moved to Charleston where she dove head first into the journalism scene, covering everything from boutique openings to café launches. But the Old North State (and a fiancé of her own) called her back home and now she’s using her experience, creativity and knowledge to write about what she loves most—love.
