09/10/12Spotted: Luna in the Press
Fashion friends, for the post-DNC letdown of no longer spotting high style celebs, like Oprah at Butter and FLOTUS Obama uptown, I've found a silver lining. Thanks to Luna hitting it big by carrying the goods our favorite famous stylelites love to gorge, we can at least dress like the celebs we can't see in person. Here's who's been spotted sporting Luna lately:

03/13/12Get Elizabeth Hasselback's Look
Although Elizabeth Hasselback is, by leaps and bounds, my least favorite cast member of "The View," I can't deny her penchant for style. I almost jumped off my couch while watching this morning's show (I consider it research for work...) because Hasselback was sporting a yellow Trina Turk dress that was none other than the very one I featured on our spring trend report of the "Charlotte Today Show" last month! It's the Rose Marie, and it's available at Monkee's of Morrocroft. I will own this dress, and I will feel just... Posted at 10:43 PM in Celebrity Style | Permalink | Comments (0) |

03/01/12Oscars Red Carpet Fashion
I've taken a few days to mull the fashion because I was a bit torn, but I've arrived at my picks for who was hot and who was a flop on Sunday night's Red Carpet for the 84th Annual Academy Awards (Oscars). Usually, my categories are plain and simple--best and worst. But this time, I think we need to add a most talked about category. I'm also happy to report that I had more trouble picking worsts than bests; this was an impressive showing. Most Talked About: Angelina Jolie--in a velvet Atelier Versace. The fact that in four days, Jolie has managed to have her own pose named... Posted at 12:53 PM in Celebrity Style | Permalink | Comments (0) |

01/30/12SAG Awards Fashion
I wish “Say[ing] it ain’t so” were a possibility, but there were too many offenses on the Red Carpet of Sunday night’s SAG Awards. Some sage (albeit harsh) advice for future nominees: if you want to be a winner, don’t dress like a loser. I’ll dedicate some of this post to Red Carpet successes, but unfortunately, I have to address the offenders, first.
Worst Dressed: Shaliene Woodley: even with little makeup and a teenage look, she was gorgeous in “the Descendants”. So, why did she raid the Golden Girls’ ex-wardrobe closet for one of her first awards shows? This is a Blanche Devereaux dress for the books—actually, I think... 02/25/11Gimme That Golden Statue
The countdown is almost over! Sunday night is the Super Bowl of red carpet fashion, and we here at Shop Talk have been training harder than a marathon runner. First we covered the Globes, then the SAGs, (we skipped the Grammy's after we saw Gaga arrive in the egg—we just couldn't bear it) and now the big moment has arrived. Sunday night, stylist Victoria Robinette and I will be joining other Charlotte Style Lovers on Twitter to share our opinions live - all you gotta do is... 05/26/10Celebrity Style: SATC 2 Premiere
The wait is over. Sex and the City 2 hits theaters tonight at midnight – as if we even need to tell you that. The mobs of women in stilettos swilling martinis (we heard tales of some who even smuggled in cosmos in their purses when the first movie hit theaters) are likely to be legendary. Our advice: carry your most sturdy handbag – you may need it to whack rogue seat-stealers away from your row. If hand-to-handbag combat sounds a bit to serious for you, then just wait and see the movie next week when things die down. In the meantime, check out these photos from the SATC 2 premiere: Posted at 11:47 AM in Celebrity Style | Permalink | Comments (4) |

02/23/09Celebrity Style: Oscar Fashion Round UpThere was a lot for our little blogger brains to take in last night: Beyonce's eye-assaulting brocade gown on the red carpet, the seemingly inexplicable presence of Jessica Biel, (this was later explained), Sarah Jessica's Cinderella-meets-Glenda-and-then-adds-an-ill-advised-belt ensemble, and that is all before the show even started! We were so overcome with the buffet of fashion eye-candy that we ran out of time to mention the delicious buffet was that was actually at the event we were attending! Sarah and I were honored to be guests at the Charlotte Symphony Oscar Gala, which is (quite inventively) held ON the stage in the Belk Theater. In between our frantic twittering (and my even more frantic phone calls to my helpful mother who was proxy posting...

Victoria Robinette reclaimed her Charlotte roots three years ago, when she returned from journalism school in Chapel Hill. She’s filled her post-college days hot on the Queen City fashion scene, writing and styling for Charlotte Wedding, Home+Garden, Where Charlotte and Charlotte magazine. Now, she’s taken the reins as style editor of Charlotte. She loves sky high wedges and cozy riding boots, pampering her two Yorkies, finishing sentences with “Seinfeld” lines, and putting everything on hold for Tar Heel basketball.
