Fall Transistion Sales: Nordstrom

Fall Transistion Sales: Nordstrom

It's (fall) wardrobe transistion time, guys, which means it's the ideal time to stock up on timeless staples for a pretty penny less than they were and will be next season.

As someone who scours fashion for a living, this is the biggest tip I can pass along: think ahead, and save, buy in the moment, and spend. It's the time to buy light-weight transistion blazers, colored denim, last season's blouses, nude shoes and summer cocktail dresses that cleverly masquerade as fall frocks when chosen in the right color palette.

Here's why: it's hot here well through October, but it's human nature to be persuaded, style-wise, by the calendar's date. A tank top and shorts feels silly in the fall, even when it's...

Luxe For Less: Mock Michael Kors Watch

Yesterday was a great day. The weather was perfect. My hair looked amazing. But that wasn't even the best part.  Do you see that watch up there at the top of this post? That's the Michael Kors watch I have been coveting since the annual Nordstrom sale last year. My mom, she of the style lessons I blogged about earlier this week,  received this very watch as a Christmas gift a few months ago. Since then I have probably worn it at least half as much as she has. I can't get enough. I looks good with...

Saving With Style: Ann Taylor Handbags

Happy Monday morning Shop Talkers! Did you have a wonderful  weekend? I sure did!

Friday night I went out with friends to try dinner at The Liberty, which has a seriously cool decor theme and delicious food (Chicken and Dumplings and English Sticky Pudding with cherry ice cream for anyone who was wondering). Saturday, I headed out to the Metrolina Expo for the Antiques and Collectibles Fall Classic and scooped up some vintage windows, and Sunday I went to the mall for some pre-holiday window shopping and fell head over heels in lust Posted at 09:38 AM in Saving with Style | Permalink | Comments (0)

Saving with Style: Anthropologie Bathing Suits

Ok, so finding a new bathing suit probably isn't at the top of your "to do" list right now being that sweater weather is just around the corner and with last night's temperature drop you're thinking more fabric rather than less.

However, one day early next spring when you're eyeing the pool or planning your beachside getaway, you're going to be wishing you had something new and fresh in your bathing...

Saving with Style: Eco-friendly fashion at Target

Remember just a few years ago when wearing eco-friendly clothes meant a whole lot a of hemp and very little style? Of course, all of that has changed with things like organic cotton and big name designers like Linda Loudermilk jumping in on the green trend.

Well, now, according to WWD today, Target will launch a line this...

Saving with Style: Bow-Tie Clutches

Before we go any further, let us note that we do not endorse copyright infringement. It's illegal and it seriously hurts up-and-coming designers. On the other hand, if a designer who charges significantly less happens to be following the same trends as a line like say, Valentino, well, we're more than happy to check out the alternative.

Which is why when we saw these adorable bow-tie clutches on spiegel.com, we thought to...

Saving with Style: Patent Heels

Ok, truthfully, what we want are these Christian Louboutin patent round toe pumps with 4.5 inch heels and hot red bottoms that are available at Bob Ellis. But, well, we don't have $695. So, below we've put a few other options for anyone else who may be looking for some classic-meet-trendy patent, round toe heels this fall. Know of any great ones we...

Saving with Style: ABS at J.C. Penney

What is going on over at J.C. Penney these days? According to WWD this morning, the chain has "called upon the Los Angeles-based A.B.S and its co-owner, founder and design director, Allen B. Schwartz, to create a dress and sportswear collection that puts a faster fashion spin on the business." This,...

Saving with Style: Find My Look

As we all know, now's not exactly the best time as far as the economy is concerned. Luckily, even in the days of ever-dropping stock prices and doomsday economic predictions, there are still plenty of stores where you can get totally fashionable looks for a fraction of the price. (You've heard us rave about Target over and over again.)

Right now, we love Forever 21. Sure, you have to get past the hoards of pre-teens...

Saving with Style: Charlotte Ronson at J.C. Penney

Having grown up in a small town with a very limited selection of clothing stores, I spent enough time shopping at J.C. Penney in my first 18 years to cover me for the rest of my life. And maybe even after that. However, I may be willing to reconsider that line of thinking.

Today WWD announced that designer...
