08/23/11What's Happening: Isabella's Annual White Sale
While I’m not really a fan of the laws of Labor Day ruling out white fashion, I’m certainly glad that these “rules” carry no relevance in the realm of home décor. So, starting tomorrow, August 24, through Saturday, August 27, celebrate your bed wearing white all year long with Isabella’s annual White Sale. The whiteout extravaganza includes all bed linens, bath towels, rugs and shower curtains on lines like Matouk and Homesource for 20% off. Be sure to stock up on a few regular price but must-have pieces, like Nest candles by Laura Slatkin, Gianna Rose... Read more » Posted at 04:49 PM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

08/20/11Weekend Ahead: Alexander Scott Soft Opening
If you’ve driven by the old McColl Center for Fine Art on East Boulevard over the past few months, you’ve seen a change taking over this space. Now, you can see that change on the inside. Alexander Scott, a home interiors outpost that will be home to a host of vendors displaying décor goods in a series of sections divided around the two-story store, will open its doors today for a “soft opening.” The official, grand opening will take place on September 17. Owners David Newcombe and Rusty Griffith, whose mission is to “Provide the... Read more » Posted at 11:19 AM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

08/18/11Local Line Lamshop Featured in Elle Decor!
I love reading Elle and Elle Décor, but I especially love reading them when I run across local names in the print (!). As you can imagine, I was delighted to find that Lamshop, the locally-launched home décor line (shoplamshop.com) whose owners are featured in our current issue of Home+Garden, made the cut this month. Here’s what I’ve decided: Lamshop is killin’ it lately.... Read more » Posted at 05:41 PM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

08/11/11What's Happening: Heather Hawkins Trunk Show at Avalilly's
We've seen her fab bags and clutches on the pages of Glamour, InStyle, Lucky and the like, and we've seen them dangling from the wrists of fashionable faces, like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian. But now we can see Heather Hawkins' must-haves on Avalilly's shelves. And it's only fitting; though her line has launched in LA, Hawkins hails from the Queen City. To kick off this posh, new spread of designer pieces (which features all American-made treasures, like weekend totes, colorful clutches and handbags, and a bevy of bracelets in luxe textures, like lambskin, snakeskin, lizard and stingray leather), Avalilly's will be hosting a trunk show from 4-7... 08/03/11A New Voice for Charlotte Shop Talk
Hello, loyal, fashion followers! In recent weeks, we've bid adieu to our beloved Jenn Grabenstetter, former style editor, style maven and the usual commandeer of Charlotte Shop Talk. I've spent the past two years under Jenn's wing, writing and picking posh pieces for our BUZZ section in Charlotte magazine, and well, helping to style much of what has been style in Charlotte Wedding and Home+Garden. I've got some incredibly tough Tory Burch wedges to fill, but I'm thrilled to introduce myself as Charlotte's new style editor and the person who will be bringing you many of these posts. Our mission hasn't changed: we're here to keep you trendy, tell you where to do it, and scout the sales, shows and stores this pretty city has to offer. Victoria Robinette reclaimed her Charlotte roots three years ago, when she returned from journalism school in Chapel Hill. She’s filled her post-college days hot on the Queen City fashion scene, writing and styling for Charlotte Wedding, Home+Garden, Where Charlotte and Charlotte magazine. Now, she’s taken the reins as style editor of Charlotte. She loves sky high wedges and cozy riding boots, pampering her two Yorkies, finishing sentences with “Seinfeld” lines, and putting everything on hold for Tar Heel basketball.
