Fall Transistion Sales: Nordstrom

It's (fall) wardrobe transistion time, guys, which means it's the ideal time to stock up on timeless staples for a pretty penny less than they were and will be next season.

As someone who scours fashion for a living, this is the biggest tip I can pass along: think ahead, and save, buy in the moment, and spend. It's the time to buy light-weight transistion blazers, colored denim, last season's blouses, nude shoes and summer cocktail dresses that cleverly masquerade as fall frocks when chosen in the right color palette.

Oscar de la Renta Trunk Show at Coplon's

It may seem like a strange time to be talking about spring 2013, especially when we've just rolled out the fall look books and are finally starting to warm up to the idea of wearing boots and knits, despite the insane heat. But Coplon's at Philiips Place is giving us something to get excited about in our wait for next year's warm weather.

On Thursday, August 30, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Friday, August 31, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the shop will host an Oscar de la Renta trunk show, showcasing the renowned designer's concepts for spring 2013 and Resort Wear.

Back to School Bargains at Barnes & Noble

For CMS-ers, the first day of school is exactly one week away, which means it's time to get in gear and get the gear. 

The nerd in me is jealous, as all through school, I'd basically liken back-to-school shopping with Christmas morning. My mom dreaded taking me because, while my brother and sister would slap any old notebook into the cart and complain that it was cutting into their pool time, I'd spend an hour pouring over the perfect trio of highlighters and searching for the binder I felt best expressed my inner-fashionista. BOGO and Back to School Benefits at The Pink Hanger

Belk's Southern Designer Showcase

Today, I attended one of the most rewarding events of my fashion career. It was the culmination of Belk's Southern Designer Showcase, a competition that began with more than 170 designers across the country, all working towards one goal: bringing their lines to Belk and making a name for themselves across the South.

Of course, the challenge's focus on Southern designers is quite fitting for Belk, as the brand prides itself on being the premier purveyor of modern Southern Style; in my book, Belk takes that title without a fight.

Green Jeans Consignment Sale

How good is the semi-annual Green Jeans Consignment Sale? So good that I wait patiently for it to come around each year--and not the kind of "patient"  (furious) waiting I do for "Mad Men" to come back each season.
