08/29/12Fall Transistion Sales: Nordstrom
It's (fall) wardrobe transistion time, guys, which means it's the ideal time to stock up on timeless staples for a pretty penny less than they were and will be next season. As someone who scours fashion for a living, this is the biggest tip I can pass along: think ahead, and save, buy in the moment, and spend. It's the time to buy light-weight transistion blazers, colored denim, last season's blouses, nude shoes and summer cocktail dresses that cleverly masquerade as fall frocks when chosen in the right color palette. Here's why: it's hot here well through October, but it's human nature to be persuaded, style-wise, by the calendar's date. A tank top and shorts feels silly in the fall, even when it's... 08/27/12Oscar de la Renta Trunk Show at Coplon's
It may seem like a strange time to be talking about spring 2013, especially when we've just rolled out the fall look books and are finally starting to warm up to the idea of wearing boots and knits, despite the insane heat. But Coplon's at Philiips Place is giving us something to get excited about in our wait for next year's warm weather. On Thursday, August 30, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Friday, August 31, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the shop will host an Oscar de la Renta trunk show, showcasing the renowned designer's concepts for spring 2013 and Resort Wear. My favorite takeaway from the Resort... Read more » Posted at 11:09 PM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

08/20/12Back to School Bargains at Barnes & Noble
For CMS-ers, the first day of school is exactly one week away, which means it's time to get in gear and get the gear. The nerd in me is jealous, as all through school, I'd basically liken back-to-school shopping with Christmas morning. My mom dreaded taking me because, while my brother and sister would slap any old notebook into the cart and complain that it was cutting into their pool time, I'd spend an hour pouring over the perfect trio of highlighters and searching for the binder I felt best expressed my inner-fashionista. I'll just leave you to imagine the painstaking efforts put into picking out my first day of school outfit. The work was so tedious that, at 25, I can still remember every first day of school outfit from 3rd... Read more » Posted at 10:40 PM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

08/18/12BOGO and Back to School Benefits at The Pink Hanger
My apologies for the lull in coverage over this past week, readers! I've been at the beach, soaking up some much needed rays to combat my Snow White complexion. Fortunately, The Pink Hanger is doing much to combat my post-vacation depression. And, if you're a CMS-er or college student (I'm jealous of you), enjoying the last school-free weekend, you'll appreciate it, too. Right now the store's offering 15 percent off of fall merchandise purchases to those who present a student ID. From new Splendid, to Joie, Laurie B, Red Engine, French Connection, Trina Turk, Fifteen Twenty, and Three Dot, the goods run the gamut. BONUS! TPH is also running a BOGO promo on sale... 08/02/12Belk's Southern Designer Showcase
Today, I attended one of the most rewarding events of my fashion career. It was the culmination of Belk's Southern Designer Showcase, a competition that began with more than 170 designers across the country, all working towards one goal: bringing their lines to Belk and making a name for themselves across the South. Of course, the challenge's focus on Southern designers is quite fitting for Belk, as the brand prides itself on being the premier purveyor of modern Southern Style; in my book, Belk takes that title without a fight. ... 08/01/12Green Jeans Consignment Sale
How good is the semi-annual Green Jeans Consignment Sale? So good that I wait patiently for it to come around each year--and not the kind of "patient" (furious) waiting I do for "Mad Men" to come back each season. The current sale, which boasts new and gently worn designer and name brand clothing, shoes, and acessories ranging in size from petite to plus sizes ( including maternity) for a fraction of the orginial costs, hits SouthPark this Friday, August 3-Sunday, August 5 (9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday). In the bounty, you'll find: Tahari, Lilly Pulitzer, Joy Joy, Alice+Olivia, BCBG,... Read more » Posted at 04:22 PM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

Victoria Robinette reclaimed her Charlotte roots three years ago, when she returned from journalism school in Chapel Hill. She’s filled her post-college days hot on the Queen City fashion scene, writing and styling for Charlotte Wedding, Home+Garden, Where Charlotte and Charlotte magazine. Now, she’s taken the reins as style editor of Charlotte. She loves sky high wedges and cozy riding boots, pampering her two Yorkies, finishing sentences with “Seinfeld” lines, and putting everything on hold for Tar Heel basketball.
