Green Jeans Consignment Sale

How good is the semi-annual Green Jeans Consignment Sale? So good that I wait patiently for it to come around each year--and not the kind of "patient"  (furious) waiting I do for "Mad Men" to come back each season.

The current sale, which boasts new and gently worn designer and name brand clothing, shoes, and acessories ranging in size from petite to plus sizes ( including maternity)  for a fraction of the orginial costs, hits SouthPark this Friday, August 3-Sunday, August 5 (9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday). In the bounty, you'll find:  Tahari, Lilly Pulitzer, Joy Joy, Alice+Olivia, BCBG, Ella Moss, Trina Turk, Kate Spade, Seven for All Mankind, J.Crew, Ann Taylor, LOFT, Banana Republic, Coach, Dooney and Burke, and tons more. Plus, 13 local vendors will be selling their goods on site. They include: Handpicked, Thirty-one bags, Scentsy, Mary Kay, The Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Cocky Robbins, Just Rings, Alta, Rodan & Fields, Bows Cote, Ruffle it Up, Holcomb Handcrafted Jewelry, and The Fashion Crew.

Bonus: A Style Challenge will precede the sale. On Thursday, August 2, from 3-4 p.m., three local fashionistas will each be challenged to style a shopper using only items included in the sale, 60 minutes, and nothing collectively totalling more than $100. The winning stylist's model will get to keep her outfit, and the winning stylist will get to contribute $100 to the charity of her choice.

The three competing stylists are:

-Christine Nelson, of Simply Sassy. Chosen charity: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

-Whitley Hamlin, of the Queen City Style. Chosen Charity: the local YWCA.

-Marguerite Rupar, of Doncaster Charlotte. Chosen Charity: Dress for Success Charlotte.

Double Bonus: On-site alterations will be offered on sale clothes purchased throughout the weekend (11 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Sunday).

Consigning: Consignors will receive 65 percent from the sale on their items, and up to 75 percent if they volunteer at the sale. They must first pay a $10 registration fee and schedule a drop-off time between now and tomororw morning, August 2. Friday evening (post-sale hours) will present an extended opportunity to consign, as the sale is restocked. Consignors and volunteers are invited to shop a VIP Pre-Sale tomorrow night, from 4-9 p.m. Follow the link for more information.

*Green Jeans' next sales are scheduled for: September 26-29 in Lake Norman and October 3-6 in Fort Mill, SC.

Queens Sport Complex, 2229 Tyvola Rd
