12/30/09What's Happening: New Year's Eve 2009Howdy Shop Talkers! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday. Mine was filled with sartorial surprises (including a pair of knee-high grey suede boots from Steve Madden that I have been coveting for MONTHS), so I am one happy girl. Now that the season of shopping and giving has passed, it's time to focus on finding the right outfit for starting off the New Year! Whether you are going to be hanging at a house party, dressing in black tie for something swanky, or bundling up and heading uptown for First Night, I want to wish you the very best! I am delighted to be heading into 2010 with all of you. Now, here are some tid bits that might help you make your plans for the last few days of 2009 and the beginning of 2010! - On Thursday, Dec 31 from 6 to 10 a.m., McDonalds will... 12/17/09Weekend Ahead: December 17-20
Dear Santa, Please forgive me. I've been a very bad girl. I have neglected my loyal Shop Talk readers during this week of deadlines and Christmas hustle-bustle. I promise I shall never do it again. Please don't move my name to the naughty list. I really, really, really want those knee-high grey Steve Madden boots I asked you for and I'd hate to jeopardize that. XOXO, Jenn Here is a sampling of the fabulous events going on this weekend! BAG IT UP - Designer Bag Trunk Show at Interiors Marketplace Let me lay this out here for you: Marc Jacobs, Prada, Tod's, Fendi - all 50-70% off of retail prices. What the WHAT?!? Christmas is coming about a week early this year, folks. At those prices you can pratically trim your tree in designer hobo bags and clutches. Sigh.... 12/13/09Online Finds: Pop Deluxe Gifts
Just when I was starting to get smug about finishing off my Christmas shopping, it dawned on me: stocking stuffers! Luckily, our stylish and sassy Charlotte Magazine intern, Evans, has just the cure I need for my what-to-buy blues. Welcome her to Shop Talk for a quick guest post, won't you? Take it away Evans! Stocking stuffers, in my opinion, are one of the best things about the holidays (besides eating tasty treats, of course). Posted at 08:44 PM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

12/07/09What's Happening: Twelve Market in Uptown
When compared to retail mecca neighborhoods like South Park and East Blvd. in Dilworth, uptown isn't often thought of as a major shopping destination. But for a few days this holiday season, that will change! Thanks to a partnership between Center City Partners, Center City Green Market and Gramercy Realty, there is now a holiday retail market set up at 101 N. Tryon St. featuring great gifts and holiday decor items from local vendors. I'll be stopping in with hopes of scooping up handmade chocolates from The Secret Chocolatier, goat's milk soaps from Unity Farms, local honey from Greenman farms and a David French original piece of art work featuring Charlotte's iconic sights to hang at my desk! ( Yeah, none of the things I just listed will be gifts for anyone else.... Read more » Posted at 01:29 PM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

12/02/09Even MORE Great Gift Ideas!
The truly ironic part about all this gift-guide blogging I've been doing this week is that I still have a TON of my own shopping to do. Sadly, I don't think online shopping is actually part of my job description, so my list of To Buy will just have to wait. Meanwhile, I'll keep on helping you cross names off your list! Everything listed below can be purchased at store locations in Charlotte or online from the links provided. Gifts under $15 If you've never had a chewy ginger cookie from Organica Deluxe, then do yourself a favor and order more than one package. Four enormous cookies come in each order. Actually better make that 3 packages. There's no way you'll... Read more » Posted at 10:58 AM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

Victoria Robinette reclaimed her Charlotte roots three years ago, when she returned from journalism school in Chapel Hill. She’s filled her post-college days hot on the Queen City fashion scene, writing and styling for Charlotte Wedding, Home+Garden, Where Charlotte and Charlotte magazine. Now, she’s taken the reins as style editor of Charlotte. She loves sky high wedges and cozy riding boots, pampering her two Yorkies, finishing sentences with “Seinfeld” lines, and putting everything on hold for Tar Heel basketball.
