What's Happening: New Year's Eve 2009

Howdy Shop Talkers! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday. Mine was filled with sartorial surprises (including a pair of knee-high grey suede boots from Steve Madden that I have been coveting for MONTHS), so I am one happy girl. Now that the season of shopping and giving has passed, it's time to focus on finding the right outfit for starting off the New Year! Whether you are going to be hanging at a house party, dressing in black tie for something swanky, or bundling up and heading uptown for First Night, I want to wish you the very best! Weekend Ahead: December 17-20

Dear Santa, Please forgive me. I've been a very bad girl. I have neglected my loyal Shop Talk readers during this week of deadlines and Christmas hustle-bustle. I promise I shall never do it again. Just when I was starting to get smug about finishing off my Christmas shopping, it dawned on me: stocking stuffers! What's Happening: Twelve Market in Uptown

When compared to retail mecca neighborhoods like South Park and East Blvd. in Dilworth, uptown isn't often thought of as a major shopping destination. But for a few days this holiday season, that will change!

Thanks to a partnership between Center City Partners, Center City Green Market and Gramercy Realty, there is now a holiday retail market set up at 101 N. Tryon St. featuring great gifts and holiday decor items from local vendors. 

I'll be stopping in with hopes of scooping up handmade chocolates from The Secret Chocolatier, goat's milk soaps from Unity Farms, local honey from Greenman farms and a David French original piece of art work featuring Charlotte's iconic sights to hang at my desk!
