Escape Hair & Skin Studio

The new Braid Bar at Escape Hair & Skin Studio opened June 1

Lots to fill you in on, Charlote shoppers. In the past month, and in some cases the past week, our retail scene has added some big names. Here's the latest scoop:

Escape Hair & Skin Studio in South End has just added The Braid Bar. Here, super talented stylist Ashley Birckbichler (or, as the salon has adorably dubbed her, "The Braid Barista") specializes in all things braids. Choose trendy or traditional styles, all of which start at $25. Side note: ladies, a quick stop at the BB could take a sweet maxi dress and a summer cocktail party to new heights. (1440 S. Tryon St., Ste 102; 704-375-3131)

Polished is movin' on up. Well, over, at least. The Myers Park shop is relocating 3 doors down from its old spot and expanding from 800 sq ft to 4200, which will include a VIP lounge and private wax and massage rooms. The Grand Opening is scheduled for after July 4. (611 Providence Rd)

Meredith Jackson, the infinitely talented jewelry artist, whose modern and inventive trinkets have made guest appearances in local boutiques and at Jewelry Artists of Charlotte, has opened a showroom (Meredith Jackson Jewelry Design) in Myers Park. We'll be sharing more of Jackson's story and successes in our August issue of Charlotte magazine, so stay tuned for that. (715 Providence Rd (at the Villa); 704-910-4140)

The two NC State graduates who successfully slated Vestique in their Raleigh college town have brought a second location to Dilworth. The women's boutique stocks stylish frocks, baubles, and bags for refreshingly reasonable price points (most under $100). (1532 East Blvd; 919-803-1033)

About Victoria

Victoria Robinette Victoria Robinette reclaimed her Charlotte roots three years ago, when she returned from journalism school in Chapel Hill.  She’s filled her post-college days hot on the Queen City fashion scene, writing and styling for Charlotte Wedding, Home+Garden, Where Charlotte and Charlotte magazine. Now, she’s taken the reins as style editor of Charlotte. She loves sky high wedges and cozy riding boots, pampering her two Yorkies, finishing sentences with “Seinfeld” lines, and putting everything on hold for Tar Heel basketball.
