Free Gardening Classes at Pike Nurseries This Month
Including a succulents class and the summer Kids Series.
There's nothing wrong with free. If you're scrambling trying to find extra activities to fill the kids' summer calendars with, look no further than Pike Nurseries this month. Almost every week, they are holding a free gardening class, and most all of them are kid-friendly. Below is the free garden class calendar so you don't miss any green-thumbed fun.
Savvy Succulents Class
What: Learn how to choose and care for succulents—the plants that are tough to kill. Pike's associates will show you which succulents will thrive in the garden and which ones you can count on year after year. For more information, click here.
When & Where: Either Wednesday, July 12, 6:30 p.m. at the Ballantyne store (12630 N. Community House Road), or Saturday, July 15, 9 a.m. at the Matthews store (1016 Devore Lane).
Herbs and the Five Senses (Kids Series)
What: Ideal for kids ages K-3, this class helps kids learn to use their senses to see how herbs are used in our everyday lives. It's a great introduction to the garden-to-table concept, and kids get to take home a potted herb of their own. Sign up here.
When & Where: Either Wednesday, July 12, 10 a.m. at the Ballantyne store, or Wednesday, July 26, 10 a.m. at the Matthews location.
Sensational Seeds (Kids Series)
What: Educating children on the seed germination process, the Pike experts will also help kids construct a seed necklace during this class. It's a fun way to teach your young ones how flowers bloom to be such beautiful sights. Sign up here.
When & Where: Wednesday, July 19, 10 a.m. at either the Ballantyne or Matthews location.
