Pierre Bader to open Aria

Pierre Bader to open Aria

iPhone snapshot of La Scala, the lounge above Aria.

Richard Thurmond here with a guest post on Dine & Dish.

A couple weeks ago, restaurateur Pierre Bader gave me an impromptu sneak peek at Aria, the Italian restaurant he's opening soon in Founders Hall. Designed by LITTLE, It's a gorgeous space. There's a lounge upstairs (in the photo) which Bader is calling La Scala and promises will be open for post-show drinks. Downstairs, it's a clean, modern look with a homey square bar in the middle. Behind the bar is a temperature-controlled wall of wine -- 1000 bottles worth. There's an old farmhouse table right in the kitchen -- the city's first true chef's table dining. He says it will open January 15.

I just got the menu for the new place. It is pasted below for your mouth-watering pleasure:

My wife and I went to Aria on opening night and were very impressed. The modern-contemporary oozed sophistication but not snobbery. The bar area had an ultra modern atmosphere with the finest bartenders in the city. The meals itself were of perfect portion size and service was 9/10 compared with other restaurants in Uptown.

Look strangely familiar - been to Vivace lately?

I've been to both restaurants, and both are great. However, their interiors are very different. Vivace is open and very modern; Aria is much more intimate and very cool - modern but comfortable. I LOVE Aria's bar area downstairs and lounge upstairs. The food is excellent, especially when you consider they just opened. They seem to have already worked the kinks out.

Enjoy!

Sounds like a great restaurant, and I will have to eat there soon!!! You may try Vivace located on Metropolitan Avenue. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and their food is simply phenomenal.
