More Father's Day dining opportunities:

Rooster's Wood-Fired Kitchen (6601 Morrison Blvd., 704.366.8688) in SouthPark is offering free dessert for dads on Father's Day. As always, Rooster's offers fresh, local produce in their dishes, making summer the perfect season to stop by. Tasty Yo Pints-to-Go

If you're like me, there's a very good chance you've craved Tasty Yo's sweet frozen yogurt during an hour long after the local fro yo shop has closed. Now, those days of unfilled longings are over. Berrybrook Farm on East Boulevard and The Common Market in Plaza Midwood are both now carrying pints of the creamy concoctions in their stores. At Berrybrook, you can find Original Tart, Blueberry Acai, Pomegranate Raspberry, and Peach Mango. At Common Market, you'll find all of those except Pomegranate.

So stop by, pick up a pint, and have it on hand. You know you'll want it later.

Charlotte Magazine Tests Chick-fil-A's New Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Chick-fil-A has introduced its first new sandwich since the Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich launched in 1989. Always looking to be helpful taste testers (read: lovers of free food), some of the editorial staff at Charlotte magazine was thrilled at the chance to check out the new addition to the chain restaurant's menu today. The sandwich ($2.99) is hand-breaded and then seasoned with peppers, cooked in peanut oil, and served on a toasted bun with two dill pickle chips. Wonder if it's for you? Here are some spontaneous reactions from veteran eaters:

"Holy hot!"—Lindsay Emeigh, Associate Art Director

"It was wicked spicy. I'm uber-sensitive to spicy things so on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the spiciest I'd rate this at a 7. But... Read more »

VanLandingham Estate Inn & Conference Center BBQ

The historic Plaza-Midwood home is hosting an outdoor barbecue on its five-acre lawn from noon to 4 p.m. The menu includes pulled pork, cole slaw, potato salad, fruit, baked beans, banana pudding, sweet tea, lemonade, and draft beer.
