03/30/11Artist Series Wine at The Capital Grille
Every year uptown's Capital Grille holds their Artist Series Wine Event featuring an exclusive wine with an original piece of artwork as its label. This year I had the chance to try the wine, a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon created by Tom Peffer of Napa Valley's Atalon Vineyards with Capital Grille's Master Sommelier, George Miliotes. And, while my judgment may have been clouded by the fact that I tasted it alongside delicious items like a porcini rubbed Delmonico steak and a flourless chocolate espresso cake, I thought the wine was fantastic. It's a robust wine and pairs very well with things like the rich Delmonico with its delicate marbling or the smooth, decadent chocolate dessert. Those with a knowledge of... 03/21/11The Big Brew Ha
On April 15th, at the Mint Museum uptown, lovers of all things brewed can happily unite to imbibe in tea, coffee, and beer—while they eat breakfast for dinner. Personally, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea of an event that involves beer and breakfast food, but if you're going to combine the two, this seems like the way to go. Held from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., The Big Brew Ha will feature breakfast dishes from Dean & Deluca, Amelie's French Bakery, Harvest Moon Grille, The Flying Biscuit and others. Tickets, which are limited to those 21 or older, are $60 and include a pilsner glass or coffee mug. Proceeds benefit St. Peter's Catholic Church, one of the oldest buildings on Tryon. Visit The Big Brew Ha's website... Read more » Posted at 09:47 AM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |
