Panthers Tailgate, Summer Parties, Live Music, and More Aug. 17-19

Get your party on with DJ Monk this Saturday night at Dharma Lounge.

There’s always a good party in Charlotte, if you know where to look. And looks like you’ve found it. Choose from one of these dozen events going on this weekend.

Friday, August 17

Panthers Tailgate
Root for the hometown team as the Carolina Panthers host the Miami Dolphins. This is one of the most popular tailgate locations all season. There’ll be food from various restaurants, a bar, indoor seating, live music, a live WFNZ broadcast, and plenty of TVs. 2 p.m.-until (game 8 p.m.). Free. WFNZ/CPI Security Doghouse, 401 W. Celebration of Summer
Kick off your weekend with cocktails at this historic mansion, enjoying the décor inside as well as the pristine gardens. 5:30-7 p.m. Free; RSVP required at kellis@tlwf.org. The Duke Mansion, 400 Hermitage Rd., dukemansion.org.

Leela James
See the critically acclaimed R&B singer-songwriter perform live. DJ Shogun warms up the crowd beforehand and rocks the party after. 9 p.m. Cost varies; ages 25 and up admitted. Tempo, 4809 Wilkinson Blvd., tempocharlotte.com.

U-Phonik

Saturday, August 18

Summer Love Fest
This eclectic space in NoDa hosts an all-day celebration of summer with live music, food, vendors, games, and more. Come out and support local art. 4-11 p.m. $10. Area 15, 516 E. 15th St., areafifteen.com.

Smooth Jazz Saturday Night (weekly event)
Enjoy live music this week by saxophonist Dante Lewis. Presented by The Jazz Diva. 9 p.m.-midnight. $5. Fanz Sports Grill, 3425 David Cox Rd., jazzdivaevents.com, fanzsportsgrill.com.

Monk
The renowned DJ, producer, and artist brings his style of underground party music. Casino Royale
It’s part of the annual Blue and White Weekend Charlotte by Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. The event is part casino night, part old-school party, featuring blackjack, poker, and roulette, along with old-school R&B and hip-hop music by DJ Wizdom. 9 p.m.-2 a.m. $20 in advance. Kalu, 505 E. Suite Summer Pool Party Tour

Sarah Harden Benefit

Swing: Leo Series Celebration Finale
Charlotte party promoters The Sol Kitchen and Roundtable Entertainment have been celebrating Leos with parties and events over an entire month.
