CIAA Week Parties: Top 10 Percent (My Picks)

I’m almost certain by now you know that the CIAA Tournament has arrived in Charlotte for the seventh consecutive year. The basketball games kicked off yesterday at Time Warner Cable Arena. And I’m sure you know by now that CIAA Week brings a ton of parties and celebrities. The list I’ve compiled for CharlotteMagazine.com’s annual guide literally features about 160 parties and events taking place this week. You can find that list—and everything else you need to know—at charlottemagazine.com/ciaa.

I was contemplating whether or not I would put together a... Read more »

Party Photos to Remember

Party Photos to Remember

I attended an event last week that was hosted by Favors in a Flash. The Charlotte-based event photography company invited guests and potential clients to Kalu Asian Kitchen, Bar and Lounge to showcase its services.

First of all, the food spread was ridiculous, with more than a dozen different trays of sushi, chicken, rice, pasta, skewers, etc. (the way to this man’s heart is through his stomach). Okay, so about Favors in a Flash—it’s a cool concept and you might have attended an event in which they were hired to photograph. If not, let me introduce you.

The way it usually works is an event planner or organizer hires... Read more »

Super Bowl XLVI Viewing Parties in Charlotte

Super Bowl XLVI Viewing Parties in Charlotte

Super Bowl XLVI (46) is expected to draw the largest television audience in American history. Is it because of the amount of fans of the New England Patriots and New York Giants? Or because Madonna is performing at halftime? I think it’s because the popularity of the NFL is at an all-time high, and this game will feature two high-powered offenses. Whatever your reason for tuning in—kickoff is 6:30 p.m. on NBC, live from Indianapolis—I’ve listed a half-dozen places from which you can choose to watch the big game this Sunday, February 5.

For Patriots Fans

About This Blog

Girls just want to have fun. Boys will be boys. You’re an adult now. Sure, you have more responsibilities than ever and your time is increasingly pressed. But it’s imperative that you make time for happy hour. That you check out that new nightclub while it’s still the hot, new thing. Dusk Till Dawn will help you navigate Charlotte’s nightlife scene, telling you where to go and when to go there.

About Jarvis

You may have seen Jarvis Holliday’s byline in Charlotte magazine and other local publications, maybe on a story in which he’s interviewed a prominent official or written about a serious issue. Well, not here. He’s taking the night off because you should as well (and maybe the next morning, too). Club owners and promoters will love him if they’re on their A-game. But if their parties are lame, he’s calling them on it. Look at his face. Do you think he cares who doesn’t like it? Follow him on Twitter @HollidayInk.
