Whatever you choose, here's a list of 20 parties over the four-day Halloween weekend—carefully selected from the dozens that are taking place around the city. Use websites listed to verify event info.

No Rest for Partiers at Town Tavern

10/24/11

No Rest for Partiers at Town Tavern

I was out in uptown last night and decided to pop into Town Tavern a little after 11 p.m. I’ve gone there a few times before but never on a Sunday night or at least not that late on a Sunday night. Well, I can now attest that S.I.N. Sundays, the weekly party, at Town Tavern is serious.

The place was packed on both levels. You enter from Tryon Street, where you can hear the music blasting from inside, and on the main level people were primarily mixing and mingling. TVs were tuned to the Sunday Night Football game, and I didn’t see a DJ on this level so I assume the music playing here was a pre-recorded mix (it’s different from the music playing downstairs).

Final Weekend to Enter ‘A Night At The Music Factory’ Video Contest

10/21/11

Final Weekend to Enter ‘A Night At The Music Factory’ Video Contest

For the past month, NC Music Factory has been holding its "A Night At The Music Factory" contest, in which it’s asked people to create a short video of their night out at the uptown entertainment complex. The contest ends at 11:59 p.m. this Sunday, October 23.

Your video needs to be at least 20 seconds long and have “NC Music Factory” somewhere in the title. You could easily shoot the video with your smart phone—you probably capture wild, drunken footage of your nights out on a regular basis anyway. So here’s your chance to win something for it.

The winner will receive a night out for four, next Saturday, October 29, at several NC Music Factory venues.... Read more »

An Evening At The Wine Palette

10/10/11

An Evening At The Wine Palette

I’m always looking for new and different ways to experience an evening or night out. I’d heard a little about The Wine Palette since it opened in June in Plaza Midwood, and I finally got the chance to check it out Saturday when a friend and fellow blogger had a party.

Simone McDowell, of HoneeBee Gifts, threw a party to celebrate the redesign of her blog. The Wine Palette hosts private events, so Simone welcomed about thirty of her friends and fellow bloggers, and we had the place to ourselves from 5-8 p.m.

We were each given an eight-by-eight-inch white canvas, brushes, and a variety of paint colors to choose from.... Read more »

Happy Hour at Morton’s Bar also Good for ‘After’ After-Work

10/06/11

Happy Hour at Morton’s Bar also Good for ‘After’ After-Work

Several bars and restaurants throughout Charlotte, especially in uptown, feature great happy hour or after-work specials. This is important for the venues as a way to drive business during what are typically slow hours. And it’s great for us because sometimes five o’clock (or six) can’t come soon enough, and we need something cold in a glass paired with something hot on a plate to help put the workday behind us. The majority of the places offer these food and drink specials from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., but sometimes you need it a little later. This is where the bar at Morton's The Steakhouse comes in.

Tuesday night, my brother and I were leaving a networking/social event in uptown. Some tasty appetizers were served there, but it wasn’t intended to... Read more »

Monday Night Football, Project Tuesday, Courvoisier Launch Party, and More this Week

Monday Night Football, Project Tuesday, Courvoisier Launch Party, and More this Week

Get the first week in October started off right by attending some of these cool events and parties.

Monday, October 3

Mainstream Mondays
It’s likely Charlotte’s largest weekly gathering for Monday Night Football. Last week, hundreds of fans turned out—many of them in their Cowboys and Redskins apparel—and expect another good turnout tonight for the Colts vs. Bucs game. The crowd varies week to week depending on which teams are playing, but you also have plenty of people who come out for the good food, drinks, and to hear music by DJ Shogun. Hosted by sports personality SG, and presented by Eddietainment. There’s also photography by Neil Nicholson, a trivia contest at halftime, and... Read more »

About This Blog

Girls just want to have fun. Boys will be boys. You’re an adult now. Sure, you have more responsibilities than ever and your time is increasingly pressed. But it’s imperative that you make time for happy hour. That you check out that new nightclub while it’s still the hot, new thing. Dusk Till Dawn will help you navigate Charlotte’s nightlife scene, telling you where to go and when to go there.

About Jarvis

You may have seen Jarvis Holliday’s byline in Charlotte magazine and other local publications, maybe on a story in which he’s interviewed a prominent official or written about a serious issue. Well, not here. He’s taking the night off because you should as well (and maybe the next morning, too). Club owners and promoters will love him if they’re on their A-game. But if their parties are lame, he’s calling them on it. Look at his face. Do you think he cares who doesn’t like it? Follow him on Twitter @HollidayInk.
