The Bechtler's blockbuster Giacometti exhibit opens just in time for the DNC.

In the September issue, we told you that Charlotte's museums were pulling out all the stops this fall, with one blockbuster exhibition after another, in part because of the national spotlight afforded by the Democratic National Convention. The first week of the DNC will be the first time residents can experience some of the exhibits, but operating hours for the various museums will be a little hinky. The ASC was kind enough to round up the hours of all the center city institutions. Here is the full release:

Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s Center City arts and cultural attractions will be open, with modified hours, for residents and visitors during the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

“There will be access to arts, science, history and heritage experiences for residents and visitors during the DNC as well as free and discounted admission on certain days,” said Arts & Science Council President Scott Provancher.  “Residents and visitors can come to the Center City and see one-of-a-kind exhibitions like American I AM: The African American Imprint at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture at Levine Center for the Arts that tells the story of African Americans and their contributions to shape our country, to the Giacometti: Memory and Presence exhibition at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art that will present more than 80  works by Alberto Giacometti, one of the greatest figures of 20th-century modernism.”
