07/27/12The Week's Inanity: No Road for Cam, Bachelormeh, Billy Graham, Chik-Fil-A, and So Much MoreThis week, Cam Newton came THIS CLOSE to having a street named after him in suburban Atlanta. Not just any street, mind you, but the road in College Park, Ga. where his parents still live. A Fulton County commissioner thought it would be just a lovely idea to call it Cam Newton Drive. Perusing the recent blog posts on the Observer site, I saw that Helen Schwab blogged on Monday about the news at FS Food Group (that's the corporate name for Frank Scibelli's restaurant group and catering company). Richard Thurmond is editor and associate publisher of Charlotte magazine and its four sister publications. He started his journalism career as a sportswriter before he realized sportswriting = bad hours and low pay. Oh well. He's been on staff since 1995 and editor since 1999.
