Perusing the recent blog posts on the Observer site, I saw that Helen Schwab blogged on Monday about the news at FS Food Group (that's the corporate name for Frank Scibelli's restaurant group and catering company). The information looked pretty familiar. That's because our very own Dine & Dish blog posted the news last Wednesday.

Now, I realize that this is not exactly of the portent of, say, Watergate. And it's entirely possible that Ms. Schwab, who is a fine reporter and critic, was unaware of our post (although said post was very popular on social media). And, over the years, I have personally received many flattering comments from Observerites about our little magazine. But it would be nice if at least once in a while reporters at the Observer acknowledged that other media outlets in town occasionally report stuff first.

Just sayin'.

About This Blog

Named for the crossroads that marks the dead center of a lively city, this blog contains links to interesting stories about Charlotte, serious discussion of serious news, and commentary on the local media scene. This is your blog, too. Please comment early and often. Also, look for occasional announcements about the magazine or the site.

About Richard

Richard Thurmond is editor and associate publisher of Charlotte magazine and its four sister publications. He started his journalism career as a sportswriter before he realized sportswriting = bad hours and low pay. Oh well. He's been on staff since 1995 and editor since 1999. Also, he thinks he is funnier than he really is, which is helpful information for reading this blog. Got something to say but too chicken to comment? E-mail me.
