The July issue of Charlotte magazine is at the printer. We're excited about a piece by Jeremy Markovich about the grassroots movement to reclaim the Charlotte Hornets name. It's a story about nostalgia, hope, and this city's tumultuous relationship with professional basketball. We're so excited that we did something we've never done before. We made a trailer.
Named for the crossroads that marks the dead center of a lively city, this blog contains links to interesting stories about Charlotte, serious discussion of serious news, and commentary on the local media scene. Richard Thurmond is editor and associate publisher of Charlotte magazine and its four sister publications. He started his journalism career as a sportswriter before he realized sportswriting = bad hours and low pay. Oh well. He's been on staff since 1995 and editor since 1999.
