Often, great ideas are inspired by not-so-great books. Co-creator and writer Eugene Pack had a stroke of genius after reading a series of celebrity autobiographies—from Vanna White to Sylvester Stallone to the Jonas Brothers. He asked friends to gather in a comedy club and read choice, not-supposed-to-be-funny excerpts from the musings of various celebrities. The idea quickly rose to stardom. Celebrity Autobiographies won the 2009 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience, and has run off-Broadway in New York for three years.
