Award-winning chef Luca Annunziata will open a new restaurant concept called forchetta in uptown later this month in the space formerly occupied by Caffe Siena. The restaurant, which is connected to The Holiday Inn Charlotte City Center, has undergone renovations to create a sleek, modern interior that’s in line with uptown’s contemporary vibe.

Chef Luca Annunziata, who previously owned Passion8 with his wife Jessica, joined the team at Café Sienna last year after taking some time off to focus on family. He’s worked for the past year to craft forchetta’s menu and modernize the restaurant’s interior.

forchetta will feature authentic Italian dishes inspired by Annunziata’s upbringing in Naples, Italy. Expect classics like caprese salad, cheese and charcuterie, and handcrafted pastas, as well as a rotation of daily specials and an extensive wine list.

Annunziata brings over 20 years in the hospitality industry. He completed his culinary training in San Moritz, Switzerland at the prestigious Suvretta House St. Moritz, and worked in a number of countries including the Don Alfonso 1890 Boutique Hotel, a two-star Michelin Relais Chateaux restaurant in Sant’Agata Italy.

His newly-renovated space will feature a private dining room, remodeled dining and bar areas, and a sweeping wine display. forchetta plans to open on June 17, while Caffe Siena remains open in a temporary space inside the Holiday Inn.

forchetta is located at 230 North College Street in uptown.
