Working Art

Printmaking. Performance art. Sculpture. If you've ever wondered about the processes and people behind these disciplines, satisfy your curiosity when the newest artists-in-residence at the McColl Center for Visual Art make their debuts on September 8. The three- to four-month residency program, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this fall, encourages conversation about art by allowing visitors to interact with the artists as they paint, sculpt, or assemble their pieces. (Your best bet for meeting the future Picassos, et al: Open Studio Saturdays, with the first on September 26, when the five artists are required to be in their studios.) The program's interactivity makes it one of the most inspiring galleries in the country.
