Owner Pam Hacker envisioned the recently-opened Hawkins Street Gallery to be both a showcase for artwork and a community space for creativity. Featured artists teach classes on techniques like drawing, painting, and etching, visiting artists give lectures and hold workshops, and a loft space is available for meetings and small-scale special events. The gallery generally shows the work of ten to twelve artists at once, with an emphasis on modern and impressionistic art.
