All year long, Charlotte magazine's staff of editors and writers scour the city for the best of the best—from dining to nightlife to culture to shopping, from pampering to pets to parks. We also ask you to vote for your favorites—which you do by the tens of thousands. Then, each May, we present the BOB Awards, recognizing Charlotte's Best of the Best. Every winner since 2011—Editor's Picks and Voters' Choice—is listed in this database, which is easily searchable. Consider this your ultimate guide to Charlotte's Best of the Best.

A Coin Minted in Charlotte

Map2730 Randolph Rd.
Charlotte, NC
  • Recreation

Every coin made in Charlotte carries an identifying mark—the letter “C.” The coins, produced here at the Charlotte branch of the United States Mint from 1837 to 1861, are rare. They include a $5 coin called a half-eagle, a $2.50 coin called a quarter eagle, and a $1 coin. The Mint Museum Randolph, housed in the old Mint building, has a few of the coins on display in its Heritage Gallery.
