Turnersburg’s 1812 Hitching Post transported guests back in time for a day of Southern charm—perfect for Kristina Bell and Dennis Douthett’s old-fashioned, homespun celebration. On a day based on nostalgia for a simpler, sweeter life, rainclouds lent this vintage wedding the silvery patina of an antique mirror.

With a love of things old and mismatched, Kristina styled her lacy tea-length gown from David’s Bridal with a delicate bolero, sash, and flower, as well as a birdcage veil and lacy parasol. To match the casual, retro theme, Dennis opted for a lightweight, gray Calvin Klein suit from Men’s Wearhouse.

Challenged with finding eight complimentary colors for her bridesmaids, Kristina chose shades of pink, purple, and coral, adding darker yellow, blue, and green to break up the pastels, crowned with hair flowers, parasols, and pearls. Willow Branch Flowers and Design created bouquets in combinations of every hue, with paler pinks and white for Kristina, as well as an enchanting wedding arbor of trailing wildflowers and pink and coral roses.

The reception tent glowed with antique, candlelit chandeliers and paper lanterns, while guests danced to jazz and helped themselves to barbecued pork and chicken, potato salad, and corn on the cob. The cake, by 1812 Hitching Post, was yellow and strawberry with smooth buttercream, dotted with pearls and decked with a vintage cake topper. Afterward, the bride and groom took the whole crew for an old-fashioned bonfire and hay bale party.
