Real Wedding: Katie & Tracy
The Point Lake and Golf Club
Four years after meeting at North Carolina State University, Tracy Ball proposed to his college sweetheart, Katie Perret, while vacationing in Charleston. So for their May wedding, the couple, both twenty-six, was sure to pay homage to their alma mater in the wedding details.
The Friday rehearsal dinner was held on the water: a dinner cruise on Lake Norman aboard the Lady of the Lake yacht, complete with a Southern buffet and a cake topped with the NCSU logo. For the next day’s nuptials, 150 guests gathered at the open-air gazebo at The Point Lake and Golf Club, where the bride made her entrance in a Pronovias gown accented with a birdcage veil. On her feet were a glittery pair of blue Christian Louboutin heels—a surprise gift from her mother. (Another surprise: the short Casablanca gown that she changed into after the reception.)
At cocktail hour, guests mingled over passed hors d’oeuvres, artisanal cheese plates, and tapas displays. But for the plated reception dinner at the Lake Club, everything was vintage glam: fabric columns, crystal curtains, and ostrich-feather centerpieces. At night’s end, the couple made their exit via a 1957 Bentley Silver Cloud S1.
