When it came time for Tripp Weathers, a filmmaker, to propose to his girlfriend, Holland Striplin, a casting director, he knew how to set the scene: with a proposal on her birthday in New Orleans. And when it was time for the Los Angeles–based couple to plan their wedding, they looked to the planners at the Charmed Event. For the week of festivities, the pair rented a house on Lake Norman in Mooresville, where Tripp’s family had vacationed for years. After days spent grilling out and playing on the water, the celebration kicked into high gear with a rehearsal dinner at the house that included Southern favorites by Born to Cook Catering set alongside a glass-covered pool that worked double-duty as a dance floor. Just before sunset the next day, the bride made her entrance across that glass-covered pool in a tea-length gown by Justin Alexander. Tripp, a huge comic book fan, surprised her by wearing his favorite Batman belt buckle with his Dolce & Gabbana suit. After exchanging personal vows before their 100 guests, the party commenced with cocktail hour while the wedding planners transformed the ceremony site to the reception party—equipped with a photo booth, a Southern-themed dinner and John Dalys (sweet tea vodka and lemonade).
