Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen offers 3-night beginner’s workshop

FOR THE FIRST time in Charlotte, aspiring cooks can take a three-night beginner’s workshop. Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen has hosted hands-on cooking classes inside Atherton Market for past two-and-a half years. Owned by Chef Alyssa Gorelick and Andrew Wilen, the classes give guests a new perspective on food and cooking.

Focusing on healthy, sustainable ingredients, each class is absolutely fun and informative.  The 3-Night workshop will ignite the cooking fire inside everyone. It’s ideal for anyone, such as the young professional or home cook who needs some new ideas.

A Charlotte native, Chef Alyssa is a former Executive Chef who has cooked twice at the James Beard House in New York, is a recipient of Best Cooking Class from Charlotte magazine, and appears on TV weekly for cooking segments.  A regular contributor to Charlotte Home + Garden magazine, Chef Alyssa decided to start her own cooking classes to share her love of healthy, sustainable dishes with Charlotteans. This new workshop class, designed to help kitchen novices learn skills to impress, will build upon each lesson.

“The 3-Night Beginner’s Workshop is the perfect opportunity to really roll up your sleeves and learn the basic techniques and beyond that will help you cook any dish!” Chef Alyssa says.

Jennifer McMillian, a recent cooking class participant, says, “I attended the Basic Knife Skills class and cannot wait to sign up for the Beginner’s workshop. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for in Charlotte! I’m so happy there’s a place out there that offers this—not to mention taught by one of the best chefs in the city.”

Held in Atherton Market (2104 South Blvd.), the workshop is from 6 – 9 pm on Tuesdays in February (2nd, 9th and 16th). It is a completely hands-on experience. Chef Alyssa adds, “When you’re finished with the workshop, you’ll have the confidence and skills to experiment in the kitchen and cook dishes you never thought could do,”

Different than the regular class format, the 3-Night Beginner’s Workshop is a smaller group. This helps ensure a non-intimidating environment, where everyone is there to become better chefs.

Another offer from Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen are culinary gift cards. The gift of cooking is great for the foodie friend or family member. Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen offers cooking class gift card that can be redeemed for any of their regular classes. These offerings include Thai, Italian, Healthy Weeknight Meals and Tex-Mex.
