Room We Love: A Dining Room in Providence Plantation

NEEDING A DINING ROOM that fused formality and function, a family of four in south Charlotte’s Providence Plantation consulted Lauren Clement of Lauren Nicole Designs to tackle the room in their year-old, craftsman-style home.

SUBTLE STATEMENT
“With the focus wall being big and tall… The woodworking makes it more finished,” Clement says of the applied molding wall. Again utilizing tone-on-tone paint—this time with a semi-gloss to call attention without being too flashy—the textured wall blends in, while adding visual interest.

TONE-ON-TONE
The Benjamin Moore Antique Pewter paint is calming and allows specific features to shine. To play up the rustic elegance, Clement ensured the paint color, chair fabrics, and other finishes did not overwhelm the wooden beams piercing the airy overhead area.

FINISHING TOUCHES
Because the house is on a dead-end street near the woods, Clement extended the natural feel to the indoors, with pops of green in the artwork and floral accessories. The elegant lamps on the sideboard and exposed candelabra chandelier accent the wood and iron, while infusing touches of fun and formality. “The draperies and the rug pull everything together,” Clement says.
