Celebrating New Year’s Eve with the Avett Brothers

It's become a Charlotte tradition: The Avett Brothers on New Year's Eve. The concerts by the raucous Concord band started at NoDa's Neighborhood Theater. When they outgrew that, they moved to the 600-seat McGlohon Theatre downtown. This year, the brothers are playing two sold-out shows at Blumenthal's Belk Theater, December 30 and 31. The national buzz has been building for the Avetts, and fans and critics alike (including a certain magazine editor) are very much looking forward to a new record in 2009 produced by the legendary Rick Rubin. To celebrate the end-of-year shows, here are some links to our coverage of the Avett Brothers thru the years:

"Band of Brothers: With their infectious, indescribable sound and loyal fan following, the Avett Brothers are the local music scene’s best hope" – October 2005

"The Avett Brothers Blow Up" – July 2007

"Avett Brothers Getting Bigger" – May 2007 (includes image of Avetts on October 2003 cover)
