Celebrity Chef, Cooking Classes, New at the Ritz, and Restaurant Week!

I returned today from a week of vacation to discover that there is much news in the Charlotte dining scene. So, I’ll play a little catch up here on the off chance you haven’t heard these tasty tidbits elsewhere.

Wells Fargo announced new tenants in the retail space of the Levine Center for the Arts which will include a restaurant from celeb Chef Emeril Lagasse of Cajun cooking and "Bam!" fame. Plus, there will be at least two other restaurants, Mizan and Emzy Asian.Sushi Bar.

Mez is kicking off a cooking class series with Chef Anoosh Shariat on Saturday, February 12th from noon to 2 p.m. with a Valentines Day menu of Hearts of Palm salad, beef tenderloin, and a chocolatini. It’s $20 per person and includes lunch. For reservations, call Mez at 4704-971-2400.

The Ritz-Carlton has started a new dining experience in its lobby lounge on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. into the evening. It’s called Burgers & Brews and features specialty burgers, french fries, and beer for $15 per person. Every Wednesday evening you’ll find live entertainment in the Ritz-Carlton’s lobby lounge. Also at the Ritz, the new Urban Sip bar has extended its hours so that it is now open on Monday and Tuesday evenings in addition to Wednesdays through Saturdays. The bar, which is on the 15th floor and is open to the public, has also expanded it’s menu and is now offering beer, coffee, and new food items including smoked cheddar fritters, prosciutto di parma, and desserts like organic carrot cake.

And finally, this week is Charlotte Restaurant Week. So, support your favorite restaurants and try some new ones. You can check out menus and participants on the Queen’s Feast website.
