Charlotte mag on the radio

For our November issue, Ken Garfield interviewed nine Charlotteans who are survivors of the Holocaust. Together with Chris Edwards’s photographs, the result is a compelling, poignant portrait of a group of people who lived through horrors I can’t even imagine.

The piece, which was a passion project of Ken’s, has been receiving a lot of local attention. He’s doing three radio interviews this week. Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., he’ll be on Charlotte Talks with Mike Collins on WFAE. The show airs again at 9 p.m. that night. Also on Wednesday, he’ll be on the John Hancock show on WBT 1110 at 7:30 a.m. And on Thursday morning at 7:50 a.m. he’ll be on with Al Gardner and Stacey Simms on WBT’s Charlotte’s Morning News. UPDATE: Garfield’s appearance on Charlotte’s Morning News has been moved to Friday Nov 6 at 8:45 a.m.

Also, on Thursday November 12, Suly Chenkin, one of the survivors Ken profiled, will be the featured speaker at Mecklenburg Ministries’ Food for Thought lunch. It’s at noon at Covenant Presbyterian Church. An rsvp is required: Zaimah@meckmin.org
