One of the show's exhibitors, Archadeck of Charlotte, creates outdoor living spaces, such as this back deck.

As spring gets closer, we all have ideas for changes we'd like to make to our home and landscape this year. Whether you want a complete remodel or just want to update the kitchen cabinets or back deck, this weekend's Charlotte Spring Home Show connects you with area resources.

With nearly 100 exhibitors spread throughout the Metrolina Tradeshow Expo, you can spend a few hours browsing. The Internet is great for searching, but with major home projects, it's nice to see examples in person and talk to the individual who constructs them. Many exhibitors have their products set up and can demonstrate how they work and which ones best achieve your desired result.

For example, Carolina Custom Countertops will demonstrate the benefits of concrete or polystone for your kitchen counters. LeafGuard of Charlotte will show you first-hand how its gutters eliminate the need for climbing a ladder onto the roof. And Archadeck of Charlotte will tell you how to achieve the ideal outdoor living space. Another benefit of these shows is that you stumble upon ideas you might not have thought of. Landscape constructions and cooking demonstrations provide inspiration for do-it-yourself projects. Some exhibitors also offer discounts for show attendees.

The show starts today (until 8 p.m.) and continues Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking and admission are free. For more information including a full list of exhibitors, click here.
