Christmas is Coming …
... and so are lots of upcoming holiday events at the Ballantyne Hotel
I realize that Halloween hasn't even happened yet, but you know what happens once it does? Boom — holiday things everywhere. On the bright side, there are lots of holiday (and food) events on the horizon for this festive time of year. The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge, which needs no recommendation from me in terms of how wonderful it is, will be hosting several events as the chillier winter months edge closer.
Thanksgiving: The Ballantyne will offer a Thanksgiving brunch on Thursday, November 27, from noon – 4 p.m. Guests can enjoy seasonal salads, decorative displays, carving stations with regional accompaniments and decadent desserts, as well as live entertainment. Cost is $75 per person, $35 for children, ages 5-13, and complimentary for children ages 4 and under (pricing does not include tax or 23% service charge). Private dining rooms are available for larger groups. The Gallery Restaurant will feature its regular menu and a traditional turkey dinner special. Reservations are required; call 704-248-4100 or visit the website.
Hot Chocolate & Toddies: Get cozy in the lobby on Fridays through Sundays, December 5 through December 28, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Enjoy hot chocolate with the option to add liqueur along with a selection of garnishes. The cost is $6 and $9 with liqueur.
Holiday Afternoon Tea: Enjoy Holiday Afternoon Tea in the lobby throughout December. Holiday Afternoon Tea includes a variety of seasonal loose leaf tea blends and a selection of savory tea sandwiches, traditional confectioneries and holiday treats. Tea is served Wednesdays through Sundays, December 3 through December 28, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. (not available on Christmas). Cost is $32 for adults and $16 for junior patrons (plus tax & gratuity). A champagne tea is available for $40 per person. Reservations are required at 704-248-4100.
Gingerbread Lane Professional & Amateur Competition: The Gingerbread Lane competition offers two independent categories for professional and amateur entries. Both categories will feature enticing prizes, including overnight packages at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge and a $500 gift card to Publix, a sponsor of this year’s event. Entry forms will be available at theballantynehotel.com. Please contact Charlene Smith at 704-248-4017 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Entry forms must be received via email by December 1. Gingerbread creations must be delivered to the hotel between Saturday, December 6 at 9 a.m. and Tuesday, December 9 at 6 p.m. Judging will take place on Wednesday, December 10 at 3 p.m. A People’s Choice winner will be selected after the Gingerbread Lane display ends.
Christmas: The hotel will offer a special brunch on Thursday, December 25, noon – 4 p.m. The buffet will include a variety of salads, an assortment of cheese and seafood displays, breakfast items with omelet station, carving station and desserts. Cost is $75 per person, $35 for children, ages 5-13, and complimentary for children ages 4 and under (pricing does not include tax or 23% service charge). Private dining rooms are available. Additionally, the Gallery Restaurant will be open for dinner on Christmas Eve, from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. The restaurant will feature its regular menu as well as offer a prime rib dinner special on Christmas. Reservations are required for dining on Christmas Eve and Christmas; call 704-248-4100 or visit www.gallery-restaurant.com.
Now you can plan well into 2015! You're welcome.
