Davidson in the spotlight again tonight; Michael Kruse’s book out

Davidson plays Duke on ESPN tonight--a matchup that's been hyped as only ESPN can. This will be the last time for a couple months that Davidson and Stephen Curry will be in the national spotlight, as Davidson's Southern Conference matchups aren't exactly the stuff of national televsion. Seems like an appropriate time to mention that Michael Kruse's book "Taking the Shot: The Davidson Basketball Moment" is out, and it's a helluva read.

Kruse, you might recall, wrote a story for us in December 2007 which essentially predicted the monster season that Davidson basketball was undertaking. And for our November 2008 issue, he wrote the definitive profile of Stephen Curry. Seriously, you won't read a better profile of Curry anywhere. (And I'm not just saying that because he manages to work Britney Spears into the piece, or because he "broke" the news about Curry's sole tattoo.) "Taking the Shot" is available, Kruse tells me, at Park Road Books in Charlotte and, if they don't sell out, the Davidson College Bookstore or Main Street Books in Davidson. Or you can get it online at www.butlerbooks.com.

Here's a recent interview with Kruse about the book. And here's his blog, 16.8.
