Eating at Tranquil Court on Selwyn

The new Tranquil Court on Selwyn Avenue in Myers Park intends to be a culinary destination—and with six variations of dining options set to open soon (or recently opened), this looks likely to happen. Here’s what foodies should be looking for next:

Clean Catch Fish Market, a fish market specializing in responsibly fished seafood, recently opened. Here you’ll find weekly demos on how to prepare fish, as well as high end prepared seafood like wild salmon burgers.

Mostly Chocolate, which sells imported European chocolates as well as specialties like Dallmayr coffees, martini olives, and Possmann apple juice, opened there earlier this month.

After more than two years away from Charlotte, Mellow Mushroom has returned. The funky pizza and beer spot is supposed to open by the end of the month and judging by the buzz its re-arrival has created, it should receive a warm welcome back.

FABO art gallery, which offers art from local artists including paintings, pottery, and jewelry, also sells coffee and pastries. In mid October they’re relocating to Tranquil Court from the Elizabeth neighborhood. Here you’ll find cupcakes and cakes from local bakery, Tizzerts, as well as a full coffee bar.

Around Thanksgiving, Petit Philippe, a specialty wine and chocolate shop, is set to open. The shop, which will offer around 250 wines, will also feature artisan cheeses and chocolates made in house (look for filled bon bons and molded chocolates).

In late fall, The New York Butcher Shoppe, a gourmet grocery store chain with eleven locations in the Southeast, will be opening. Founded in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., the shop offers fresh cut steaks and various other meats, as well as wines, pasta, and sandwiches. It will offer catering for area businesses and "stock your freezer" packages of meat.
