Ending Childhood Hunger

Dining out in September will help a good cause
No Kid Hungry

Several restaurants in Charlotte will be hosting events to benefit No Kid Hungry. The organization is ending childhood hunger in this nation by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need every day by connecting them to nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals and by teaching families how to cook healthy, affordable meals at home.  Since the campaign’s launch, No Kid Hungry and its partners have connected kids struggling with hunger with more than 107 million additional meals.

On September 20, Mimosa Grill Executive Chef, Jon Fortes, will host an exclusive dinner benefitting No Kid Hungry. The event will feature nationally renowned regional guest chefs from Atlanta to Kinston. The multi-course dinner focusing on the freshest, regional ingredients of the season paired with amazing wines, will be preceded by a cocktail reception and will feature a live auction in which guests can bid on a variety of luxury culinary and travel items. All proceeds from the event support No Kid Hungry. The cocktail reception begins at 6pm with the dinner beginning at 7pm. Individual tickets are $175, with group tables and sponsorships available. Find more information here.

Mellow Mushroom is also getting in on the No Kid Hungry action. For every order of Buffalo Chicken Pizza and Oven Roasted Wings, Mellow Mushroom will donate $1 on your behalf to the No Kid Hungry campaign. Additionally, if you place a donation in store of $1 or more, you will receive a mushroom with your name to pin on the wall.

Through the end of September, for every $10 donation made online at www.nokidhungry.org/mellowmushroom, receive an entry to one of two trips: either the Hard Rock All-Inclusive resort destination of your choice OR to go and brew beer with the Brew master in Fort Collins, Colorado, at the New Belgium Brewery.

Eating well plus helping a great organization sounds like an easy way to do your part. Get out there and om nom nom for a good cause!
