Father's Day: VanLandingham and Andrew Blair's
There are plenty of dining-related ways to celebrate dear old Dad on Father’s Day Sunday this year. As I hear about them over the next two weeks, I’ll be posting them here.
VanLandingham Estate Inn & Conference Center BBQ
The historic Plaza-Midwood home is hosting an outdoor barbecue on its five-acre lawn from noon to 4 p.m. The menu includes pulled pork, cole slaw, potato salad, fruit, baked beans, banana pudding, sweet tea, lemonade, and draft beer. The attire is casual with dogs being allowed and outdoor items like frisbees and picnic blankets encouraged. There will be live music and even a Jumpie House for kids. It’s $10 per person without beer and $15 for those with beer (a cash bar is also available). Kids four and under are free. Reservations are required and can be made at 704-334-8909.
Andrew Blair’s Brunch Special for Father’s Day
Montford Drive restaurant, Andrew Blair’s, is amping up its regular Sunday brunch menu is honor of Father’s day. It will offer a Steak and Egg’s special on Father’s day featuring a 12-ounce Rib eye steak served with sunny-side up eggs, sweet potato hash, and Maker’s Mark hollandaise sauce ($12.99). And, as always, AB’s Blood Mary bar, offering plenty of tasty ingredients for concocting your own Bloody Mary, will be available for $5. Brunch goes from 10 to 3 and reservations are encouraged (704-525-8282).
