Hyde Brewing will release its first three cans as part of the brewery's one-year anniversary with The Suffolk Punch Saturday

When life gives you hurricanes, make … hurricans?

Such is the case at Hyde Brewing and The Suffolk Punch, whose first-year anniversary just so happens to fall on the weekend where Hurricane Florence is expected to arrive in the Queen City. But, as they say, the show must go on and the SouthEnd restaurant/bar and brewery will push forward with its party, save for the live music festival scheduled (which will now take place Oct. 6).

The highlight of the event is Hyde’s first-ever release of cans, and the brewery is rolling out three for the party: A Patchwork Orange, Hyde’s flagship IPA; Backwoods, a pale ale; and The Belligerent Blonde, a blonde ale. All three will be available in 16-ounce 4-packs to go, while supplies last. Hyde is also brewing a special anniversary beer for the party, an as-yet-unnamed (a contest was being held to name the beer) Dubbel that will be available on draft.

Although the outdoor music has been postponed, there are plenty of activities going on inside throughout the day. It all begins at 9 a.m. with a cardio dance workout, followed by a full body workout at 9:30 a.m. from Bloc CLT and SweatNET, respectively.

For those who want to get straight to the food and drinks, The Suffolk Punch will have brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. along with a special dinner menu later in the evening. Garbage Truck, Golden Cow Creamery and King of Pops will be onsite as well. Also look for a special cocktail and coffee as part of the anniversary party.

Finally, GoTeeBox will be set up from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and there will also be an opportunity to get into giant sumo costumes and take on an opponent in sumo wrestling from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
