Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE)

Category: Events

SEWE curates a collection of fine art from some of the most talented wildlife painters and sculptors in the nation. Explore the SEWE Gallery online to find a new piece of art, learn more about the artists and discover the inspiration behind their work. Plan a visit to the SEWE Fine Art Gallery, located in Charleston Place Hotel, in February to shop our premier wildlife artwork in person.

The 2022 Featured Artist is Julia Rogers and her Featured Painting is titled “Golden Light”. “Golden Light” depicts a trio of swans basking in the warm sunlight with one stretching its angelic wings. Rogers’ original painting will be available at auction during the VIP Signature Gala and Sale, February 17, 2022.

With an ongoing focus to bring renowned wildlife and sporting art to Charleston, SEWE also welcomes a new artist, Kathleen Dunphy, as the Special Guest Artist. Mark Horton, the SEWE 2021 Featured Artist, will exhibit an encore body of work. “With the artists present and engaging with collectors during SEWE week, people often refer to the connections and relationships made here in Charleston,” shared John Powell, SEWE Executive Director. “I believe the opportunity to view the collections by Julia, Kathleen, and Mark as we gather again during SEWE 2022 will be a memorable occasion for us all.”

On Friday, February 18, SEWE artists will create original pieces live during the Quick Draw/Speed Sculpt in the Fine Art Gallery at the Charleston Place Hotel. Working in their designated exhibit space, each participating artist will have just one hour to create a piece from start to finish. A live auction will take place after where attendees can bid on the works.
