Morning Glory
Charlotte Crossroads presents Art in the A.M. at Amelie's Bakery this Friday
Normally, if someone tries to recite poetry to us before we’ve had our first sip of morning coffee, we go a little Incredible Hulk on their verses.
After hearing about Charlotte Crossroad’s latest creative endeavor, though, we might shake off the morning crankiness to hear out some of Charlotte’s most original voices. Charlotte Crossroads, an organization that connects artists and civic organizations through unique community projects, is inviting three local artists to perform at Amelie’s Bakery at (wait for it….) 7:30 in the morning. This is the first installation in Charlotte Crossroad’s new series, Art in the A.M., which aims to spark intellectual and civic discussions in the community while everyone’s still sharp (or, at least, sharpening).
For one hour, you can enjoy music and poetry (and some combination thereof) while munching on Amelie’s coffee and croissants. Pianist Stephen Gordon, poet/singer Blk Swan (no, that’s not a typo), and poet Filmore (one word, like Rihanna) will share their work, letting you start your day armed with caffeine and creativity to go.
