NC Beer Month begins with multiple Charlotte events

Hope you had a relaxing break from Charlotte Craft Beer Week, because April marks North Carolina Beer Month, and the Queen City has several events going on as part of the celebration. If you haven’t yet, check out the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority’s page on craft beer in Charlotte, it’s well done, especially for those coming here for the first time to enjoy the incredible scene.
On the local front, NC Beer Month starts today at NoDa Brewing, which is teaming up with Autism Charlotte for the inaugural Ales for Autism. Cost of the event is $15, which gets you a commemorative pint glass, door prize ticket and one free beer. Or you can double your donation, where $30 gets you all of the same plus an extra door prize ticket and a four-pack of your choice of NoDa beer. Also, 88 cents (which represents the ratio of 1 in 88 children being identified with an autism spectrum disorder) of every beer sold will be donated to help fight autism. As part of the event, NoDa is brewing Sensory Overload, an orange IPA. Purchase tickets at the brewery.
As part of NC Beer Month, NoDa is collaborating with two other Tarheel State breweries for special relases: Front Street out of Wilmington (Mother Shucker, an oyster stout that the two brewed last year as well) and Morganton’s Fonta Flora (a yet-to-be-named Saison IPA). You can also enter the Brewmaster Experience, with the grand prize two nights at the Aloft hotel, two days of working with the NoDa staff to create your own NoDable beer (along with the accompanying YouTube video), two vouchers for a Charlotte Brews Cruise and an appearance on the Cheers Charlotte podcast. Enter by visiting the NC Beer Month Web site (you have until April 30).
Charlotte’s official NC Beer Month kickoff party will take place at Growlers Pourhouse on Tuesday, April 8 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The NoDa beer bar will be showcasing craft beer from Charlotte’s breweries as well as other ones from North Carolina. Admission is free and there will be live music along with raffle prizes.
There are also several beer dinners involving Charlotte’s breweries, and VBGB is hosting a Meet the Brewers Charlotte Tap Takeover on April 22 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Look for more information on those events as they draw closer.
