New Uptown Shuttle Caters to Nightlife
Dining out, bar-hopping, clubbing, and taking in a show in uptown just got a little easier. The NC Music Factory and Felix Sabates Mercedes-Benz have partnered to offer a new, free uptown Charlotte shuttle service called the Entertainment Express. This 18-passenger shuttle will run every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., making stops throughout uptown. This is an option uptown visitors didn’t have before, if you compare it to the free Gold Rush shuttle that doesn’t run at night.
Even though the press release I received today doesn’t come right out and say it, the shuttle will basically help the NC Music Factory, which is on the outskirts of uptown, better compete with the EpiCentre, which is in the heart of uptown. It’ll take you to and from the Music Factory with a main stop being located just in front of the EpiCentre, though the latter isn’t mentioned by name. Looks like the competition between these two mega-entertainment complexes has heated up even more. But as usual, competition is good for the consumer so now you can bar-hop at EpiCentre, then catch the free shuttle and bar-hop some more at the Music Factory, or vice-versa. And with the Music Factory offering plenty of free parking, you might want to park there rather than paying $10 or more at parking decks and lots near the EpiCentre.
Here’s an excerpt of the press release sent out today by Charlotte Center City Partners announcing the Entertainment Express:
The NC Music Factory in conjunction with Felix Sabates Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte is proud to announce a new, free Uptown Charlotte Shuttle service called the “Entertainment Express”.
The Entertainment Express has begun running continuous loops throughout the Uptown area, along Graham, Third and College streets, focusing stops at bus stops on College Street and at the NC Music Factory. With this shuttle, you can park once Thursday – Saturday nights and travel in style to Uptown’s entertainment hot spots.
The initial pick-up/drop-off locations will be at 4th and College streets; and on College Street and Sixth Street at the public bus stop next to the Holiday Inn Charlotte – Center City and again at the NC Music Factory fountain plaza. The shuttles will stop at each of these locations approximately every 15 minutes from 6:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Other stops may be added.
The shuttle fleet is comprised of beautiful Mercedes-Benz 18-passenger Sprinter buses supplied by Felix Sabates Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte.
