Reading Nerds Unite!

Charlotte’s Novello Festival of Reading is in its seventeenth year, annually providing an opportunity for the city’s avid readers to come together with some of their favorite authors. It’s not too late to catch a few of the events for this year, but the grand finale of the October festival will be “A Novello Finale with Dave Eggers”—a night with the Pulitzer finalist of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.

Eggers, who many have called the J.D. Salinger of his generation, will be reading from his newest novel, What is the What, next Saturday, October 27. The book tells the story of the lost boys of Sudan.

As an English major at Davidson College (and, some will argue, an English nerd), I can’t help but urge you to take advantage of a chance to hear a brilliant author and get involved with the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County’s celebration of great literature.
