Real Wedding: Miquel & Kaiser
October 30, 2010 The Ritz-Carlton

After Kaiser Jamil proposed to Miquel Purser on their two-year dating anniversary, it took them almost that long to plan their wedding. “We were engaged for sixteen months because it took us seven to find the right venue,” says the bride. Their final choice: the Ritz-Carlton.
Tiffany Ratliff of Weddings & the City handled the logistics, including the rehearsal dinner at Chima Brazilian Steakhouse, one block from the hotel, and the ceremony at the Ritz’s Urban Garden. Miquel made her entrance in a Bliss by Monique Lhullier gown and carried white roses with black feathers; her bridesmaids were sassy in Priscilla of Boston mermaid-cut dresses. After the traditional vow exchange, the 100 guests sipped cocktails while Miquel changed into a shorter party dress and a stylish hairpiece designed by her maid of honor.
The reception continued in the ballroom, decorated in neutral tones to complement the wood centerpieces created by the bride’s father, an artist. After the sit-down dinner, partygoers sampled mini Key Lime pies and cheesecake lollipops at the dessert bar. And while DJ Split Second Sound kept guests dancing, the passing around of a funky pair of blue Betsey Johnson sunglasses ensured everyone stayed on the floor. “This will be a family wedding tradition for years to come,” laughs the bride.
