Salon.com says GOPers are in trouble in NC. Plus, Charlotte on NPR’s Here and Now

Mike Madden, who wrote a piece for our September issue about Obama's chances in North Carolina (at the time: not good, despite all the noise his campaign was making) plus a sidebar on the Dole/Hagan race, has a story in Salon.com today essentially updating his piece for us. Except it's turning out that Obama is in fact mounting a serious challenge, and Dole is all but down and out: "Blood in the water in North Carolina."

Also, Tuesday's Here and Now, which airs on WFAE 90.7 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., will feature a segment on Charlotte in the post-Wachovia era. Host Robin Young interviewed me for the segment. Let's all hope for some friendly editing. UPDATE: The show's producer tells me that the Charlotte segment will air (locally) following the 1:30 newscast.

And in case you missed the piece that NBC Nightly News did on Charlotte last week, here's the link.
