See the Secret Gardens of the Fourth Ward
Tour beautiful hidden landscapes and enjoy special food, beer, and cocktail tastings from participating restaurants.
Take a peek inside the gorgeous gardens that reside within the Fourth Ward on May 14 and 15 from noon to 4 p.m. each day. The Secret Gardens of Fourth Ward tour, hosted by Friends of Fourth Ward, will feature the fabulous flowerbeds of participating homeowners who open their doors to reveal their private gardens to the public.
Those who purchase a ticket will be able to embark on self-guided tours down the charming brick-paved sidewalks and gaze at the hidden gems. There will also be docent-led tours of Fourth Ward Park and the historic Elmwood and Pinewood Cemeteries. Public art, historic homes, and other special points of interest will also be highlighted on this urban garden adventure.
To sweeten the event, there will be free beer and cocktail tastings courtesy of Muddy River Rum Distillery, Cardinal Gin, Doc Porter’s Vodka, and Rock Bottom Brewery, and more. There will also be $1.00 oysters from Sea Level, free B-Cycle and horse-drawn carriage rides, and special complimentary appetizers at nearby restaurants only for tour-goers.
Tickets are $20, and proceeds will benefit more projects like this from Friends of Fourth Ward, the nonprofit behind it all that’s celebrating 40 years of community service this spring.
To purchase your ticket, head to Friends of Fourth Ward’s website, Alexander Michael’s Restaurant & Tavern, or Park Road Books. During tour hours, you receive your tour guidebook upon redeeming your ticket at the ticket booth on the corner of 9th and Poplar Streets in the Fourth Ward. You can also purchase same-day tickets at this booth.
