Breathe easier by planting one of these trees that don't produce a lot of pollen.
It's that time of year again… Allergy season, that is.
If you've found yourself more sniffly or sneezy than usual, the culprit is probably sprouting out of your front yard. While it's a generally known fact that blooms produce pollen, some people often don't realize that trees can be to blame, too.
More specifically, male trees.
Male trees produce pollen in the spring whereas female trees give us fruit during the season. Urban landscapes often feature male trees because they are easier to clean up, which means our city of Charlotte probably has quite a bit of pollen flying around thanks to these male trees.
To help your sinuses breathe a little easier, you can plant sterile female trees that don't produce fruit. According to The Davey Tree Expert Company, female trees capture pollen and thus help clear the air of the excess pollen that makes you sneeze.
