No matter if you're seeking design advice or you're on the verge of a remodel, the Southern Ideal Home Show will be flushed with home inspiration. The show returns to The Park Expo & Conference Center in Charlotte and will take place September 8-10.

Among the 200-plus local exhibitors that will be participating, Charlotte's cooking extraordinaire Chef Alyssa will be on the cooking stage conducting home-entertaining-themed cooking demos with an all-star lineup of other local chefs. Plus, Matt Muenster of HGTV's Bath Crashers will be joined by remodeling, design, and gardening experts on the fresh ideas stage. Local breweries will be handing out complimentary samples in the beer garden, and there will be food trucks to satisfy hunger pangs.

And, if you're a big fan of flipping furniture from drab to fab, you will love Habitat Charlotte ReStore's first-ever Up-Cycle Challenge. To take part, you will head to the Habitat Charlotte ReStore (sooner rather than later) at 1133 N. Wendover Road and purchase one of the $10.99 bedside tables that were set aside for this challenge. You'll then use your DIY savvy to refurbish the table and give it a new life according to your own vision. Bring it back to the ReStore no later than September 5 for judging—first place will receive a $100 ReStore gift card, and second and third place get $75 and $50 gift cards, respectively. As a bonus, your winning work will be displayed at the Southern Ideal Home Show in the ReStore Lounge and then available for purchase at the ReStore on September 11.

On September 8, Hero Day, all active and retired military, police, and fire personnel will receive a complimentary show admission when they present their ID card to the box office. Additionally, that same day, all educators and school staff who present a valid school ID will also receive free admission. All other attendees can save $1 by purchasing tickets online at; regular price adult tickets are $10, and children ages 12 and under get in free. Parking is $8 and cash-only.
